The CCTV military channel recently released a video that depicts a recent air combat training exercise conducted by the Chinese Air Force in which the two opposing sides are two J-10Cs and two J-16s, both of which are the newest fighters of the Chinese Air Force and represent its highest level except for the J-20.
According to the video description, at first, the two J-10Cs had no advantage against the J-16s, but then the J-10C pilots drew on their experience and began to rise to 2,000 to 5,000 meters and pull loads up to 7 or 8 Gs to counter the J-16s, and eventually shot down a J-16 fighter with an aerial gun instead of missiles.
The video also reveals that 2-on-2 free air combat has become a regular training method for the Chinese Air Force, and incorporates a large number of new special fighters such as early warning aircraft.
In early December there were reports of four J-10Cs successfully fending off 24 J-10A fighters in an air combat training exercise.
