A set of video screenshots from China’s Military TV Website recently circulated on the Chinese Internet, which show the entire process of a HJ-10 anti-tank missile striking a Type 59 tank on the plateau, even including images of the tank taken by the photoelectric/infrared guidance head of its missile warhead.
At the 2018 Zhuhai Airshow, China reportedly demonstrated the HJ-10 combat section’s penetration depth target plate on-site for the first time, indicating that the missile penetrated more than 1 meter deep against the overall target plate.
HJ-10 is mainly used to strike tanks, armored vehicles, strong fortifications and high-value point targets on the ground within a medium-range distance of the enemy’s depth, and also has the ability to attack low-flying helicopters at low altitudes.
In August last year, CCTV also reported that HJ-10 anti-tank missile launch vehicle was used for drills in Tibet.
Some analysts believe that India did not deploy T-90 main battle tanks to the China-India standoff front because of the fear of the HJ-10.
