China’s first domestically-built aircraft carrier, the Shandong, has completed its maintenance and training cycles and has achieved its combat capability goals, according to a recent report by China Central Television’s military channel.
The report stated that the Shandong carrier had passed through multiple tests and received a “pass” for combat readiness training. The ship is expected to join the Liaoning carrier in a fleet mission to the deep blue sea soon.
The report also highlighted China’s progress in developing its naval capabilities, including the commissioning of new ships and the construction of three aircraft carriers.
The Shandong has completed various training missions since entering service, and its combat capabilities have improved continuously. In June 2022, China launched its third aircraft carrier, the Fujian, marking the start of a new era for the People’s Liberation Army Navy.
