The much-anticipated No. 2 075 amphibious assault ship of PLA Navy, the recent outflow of photos on the Internet suspected of being the ship’s cap, which shows its ship’s port number “32”, and named Guangxi ship, suspected of being listed in the Eastern Theater of China.
As early as earlier this month, Chinese military fans have photographed the ship moored at a certain military port in the Zhoushan base in the eastern theater. At that time, there is an analysis that the PLA Navy has received the ship, but the official did not announce it.
The Type 075 LHD can carry about 30 attack helicopters, nearly 1,000 marines, as well as several amphibious hovercraft, main battle tanks and armored vehicles. The PLA’s eastern theater has three Type 071s, as well as other smaller amphibious ships, and the addition of the Type 075s will boost the theater’s combat capabilities.
The former captain of the Taiwan Navy and military expert Lv Lishi said that the PLA’s second TYPe 075 LHD is a so-called “major threat” to Taiwan’s defense, perhaps even greater than the aircraft carrier threat. He pointed out that in case of a situation in the Taiwan Strait, the Type 075 will become a floating logistics and support platform for the attack helicopters of the PLA’s southeast coastal air bases, while the PLA’s carrier strike group is not aimed at Taiwan’s defense, but rather at implementing an “anti-access” strategy to deter foreign military intervention in the South China Sea and the Western Pacific.
In addition to the first ship of Type 075 amphibious assault ship Hainan, which was commissioned in April this year, and the second ship Guangxi, the third ship also underwent sea trials in November this year.
According to earlier reports citing retired PLA Navy officers, China is suspected of building five more ships of the same type, and later plans to develop a Type 076 amphibious ship equipped with an electromagnetic catapult system on this basis.
