The Chinese Army’s 82nd Army Group recently organized a Red-Blue live confrontation exercise. To defend against Z-19 raids, the Blue Army set up a circle of fire with HQ-17 short-range air defense missiles, using the airfield as the center of the circle.
Although the Z-19 helicopter eventually succeeded in “destroying” the Blues’ HQ-17 missile launcher, half of the Red Army’s helicopters were still “battle damaged,” according to CCTV.
In the recent Red-Blue exercise of China, both a Z-19 helicopter and a HQ-17 missile system reportedly spotted each other and fired their missiles, but in the end, the Z-19’s missile destroyed the HQ-17 a few seconds faster and managed to get away from the tracker.
