The China Maritime Safety Administration announced on August 4 that China will conduct military training within the line of eight points in the South China Sea and prohibit entry from August 6 to 10.
Taiwan media quoted a tweet from a Vietnamese military journalist saying that the PLA’s restricted area for this exercise is more than 100,000 square kilometers, which is the largest military exercise restricted area the reporter has seen in the South China Sea.
Such a large area for exercises means that the PLA may conduct test-fires of medium and long-range missiles in this area. A year ago, China launched DF-26 and DF-21D carrier-killer ballistic missiles from Qinghai and Zhejiang to almost the same sea area.
