The official WeChat account of the Tibet Military Region released a set of military training photos on July 22, including a photo of a soldier carrying an HJ-12 anti-tank missile launcher on his shoulder.

This is the first time that the Chinese army has confirmed the service of HJ-12 anti-tank missiles. HJ-12 anti-tank missile is a kind of man-portable anti-tank missile developed by China North Industry Corporation, which belongs to the third generation of the anti-tank missile system, with the advantages of letting go after launch, dive attack, high power, all-weather operation, etc. It is the most advanced man-portable anti-tank missile on China’s foreign trade shelf and is at the same level as the foreign  “Javelin” and other typical third-generation missiles.

It was reported that this type of missile has been exported last year, and the export model is HJ-12E (or “Red Arrow 12E”). And according to some insider, the HJ-12 missile uses a low-cost uncooled infrared thermal imaging seeker, so it can be mass-produced.
