The Global Times, the mouthpiece of the Chinese government, published an article titled “Those who commit terrorist attacks against the Chinese must be put to death even if they are far away” on the 16th, which is an adaptation of the famous Chinese Han Dynasty saying “Whoever dared to invade the mighty Han Dynasty, even if he is far away, must be put to death!”
According to the article, “The bloody incident that killed at least 12 people, including nine Chinese nationals, has now been authoritatively characterized after the Chinese and Pakistani prime ministers simultaneously described Wednesday’s bombing of a shuttle bus of Chinese engineers as a “terrorist attack” in a phone call today. Yesterday a Pakistani minister has said that traces of explosives were found at the scene of the incident. This is the worst terrorist attack in Pakistan in recent years that has resulted in Chinese casualties.”
According to analysis, it is likely that the attack was carried out by the Taliban operating in Pakistan, and it is possible that China will send special forces into Pakistan to liquidate these Talibanists.
Global Times vows that “China must use actions to clearly tell Pakistan’s domestic anti-government forces: no matter who they carry out terrorist attacks on Chinese personnel and projects, it is tantamount to placing themselves in the position of China’s enemy, and China will definitely support the Pakistani government in destroying them…China can also send special forces and other forces to participate in joint operations to eradicate threats to Chinese targets within Pakistan…If the situation deteriorates, the Chinese side cannot leave things ‘in the hands’ of the Pakistani side, but should do close assistance and participation…Anyone who kills the Chinese will kill themselves.”
