An anti-tank missile company of an artillery battalion of the 75th Army of China recently went to the filming location of ‘Prairie Fifth Squad’ in “Soldiers Sortie” (士兵突击) to once again feel the persistence of the soldiers. “Fifteen years have passed, and the roads and the red star built by Xu Sanduo in the play are still bright red,” according to a recent CCTV military report.
Soldiers Sortie is a popular Chinese TV series released in 2006. With the life of the Chinese army as the background, it tells the story of how Xu Sanduo, a rural ‘soldier scum’, becomes a ‘soldier king’ step by step.
Xu Sanduo was initially “exiled” to the “Prairie Fifth Squad” of his company because of his poor performance in the army. It was far away from the normal life and training place of the troops, had no future at all. However, Xu Sanduo was in the spirit of “never abandon, never give up”, he worked hard to live a “meaningful life”, and finally used an accidental opportunity to get out of the “Prairie Fifth Squad” and return to the large army. Through hard training, he overcame his weaknesses and eventually became an elite among the elites.
Soldiers Sortie became a dark horse after its release, and have inspired countless young Chinese to sign up for the army.
According to public information, the 75th Army of PLA was formed in April 2017 and belongs to the Southern Theater Command of China.
