Dongfeng Mengshi military off-road vehicles are widely equipped in the Chinese military and have been developed into the third generation. Now it’s reported that the 3rd generation of Mengshi may be installed with a laser system that can suppress low and small slow unmanned aerial vehicles such as suicide drones.
Several agencies may be involved in the development of Mengshi’s chassis retrofitted with a laser weapon system supporting the upgrade task. This includes tackling the solution of stable power supply equipment for high-power laser transmitters, including long standby power supply, as well as short intensive use of power supply. Also this off-road vehicle will be equipped with special high-power AC and DC engines in the body and chassis, which can ensure that there will be no need for special external power support equipment for the vehicle to strike at any time, even perform laser strikes on the move.
The entire laser strike system of the 3rd-gen Mengshi vehicle also includes radar detection module, laser jamming module, and photoelectric tracking module and so on. A series of combat methods such as laser observation and aiming interference/suppression and laser strikes can be achieved, giving full play to the maximum value of laser high-energy weapons.
