China transports numerous soldiers and weapons to Tibet in several hours

The confrontation between the Chinese and Indian armed forces in the western border area is mitigated but hasn’t stopped. It is reported that when the two sides held high-level talks on June 6, the Chinese Air Force sent troops to the Sino-Indian border. At the same time, 2020 is the 70th anniversary of the establishment of the Chinese Air Force Airborne Corps, and recent reports by the Chinese military media have attracted attention.

It was reported on June 9th that during the confrontation between China and India, a certain unit of the Chinese Air Force Airborne Corps adopted a variety of maneuvering methods such as civil aviation transportation, logistics transshipment, and railway transportation, and took only a few hours to transfer personnel, supplies, and weapons from Hubei province to the “Northwest Plateau” (Tibet) thousands of kilometers away.

Chinese officials pointed out in the report that “winning quickly” is the operational advantage of airborne troops. The entire process takes only a few hours. Such an efficient and rapid response capability shows the emergency preparedness of airborne troops on the one hand, and the rapid development of China’s civil aviation and railway transportation on the other.

In addition, according to the analysis of military experts, since the Doklam (Donglang) confrontation in 2017, the PLA has been equipped with new weapons such as Z-20 helicopters, Type-15 lightweight tanks, and PCL-181 self-propelled howitzers. Moreover, these weapons have been tested on the plateau, which will provide strong support for PLA plateau operations.
