China Air Force recently released a promotional film, showing that J-20 fighter jets take part in a military exercise during the Spring Festival of 2020, and a formation of 6 fighters is impressive.
According to military analyst Xiao Feizhu, this training is not just for good-looking, it shows that J-20 fighter is undergoing cooperative combat training between formations. The fifth-generation stealth fighters are usually equipped with high-speed broadband data link and an intelligent avionics system. In this way, the onboard mission management computer can integrate the internal and external information of the aircraft for intelligent processing and provide pilots with auxiliary decision-making.
In other words, the pilot does not need to analyze the data acquired by the detector, but only needs to make tactical decisions based on the battlefield situation and state of the aircraft. The fighter’s high-speed broadband data link also enables deeper collaborative operations between formations.
For example, the lead fighter can learn the status of the wing fighters and issue the correct command. This puts forward higher requirements for pilots’ tactical and technical expertise, so this kind of exercise should be a key area of focus for pilots of the Chinese Air Force.
