China’s aviation industry corporation released a video to mark the 60th anniversary of test flight history in the country and gave clear images of a new-type version of J-11, which is regarded as a prototype of J-11D fighter.
The suspected J-11D adopts a tilt radar antenna array, which is taken as a typical feature of active phased array radar systems on China’s military aircrafts.
J-11D is said to be the last improvement of J-11 series and is positioned as a “4.5-generation” fighter in China.
It’s pointed out that J-11D test flights will cease to give emphasis to J-16 and J-10C fighters which have better multi-purpose features.
